Labor Day Statement
This holiday weekend please take a moment to remember the under and unemployed. Families with two and three jobs working to make ends meet. Young people graduating from high school and college into an environment with a scarcity of opportunities. And seniors, the generation that built our country, facing an uncertain future for the retirement plans they funded.
But New Yorkers are resilient and proud. We work hard and share our good fortune. We crowd the small shops and restaurants that are the backbone of our economy. We continue to build and improve. New York remains the financial center of our nation.
It is this 'can do' spirit that we celebrate on Labor Day. A day to honor the hard work of the past while looking forward to a better New York and stronger economy.
